What is a Pneumonia Vaccine?

What is pneumococcal disease?

Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs caused by a virus or bacteria, specifically the bacteria called Streptococcus pneumoniae. The same bacteria can also cause infections in the ears, the blood and the lining of the brain. Pneumonia symptoms include cough, fever, and difficulty breathing.
